Wethersfield Trees with Brian Kenny

Brian Kenny, Wethersfield’s own Tree Supervisor will survey the scope of our town’s remarkable collection of notable trees and how to find them in our Tree Database. He will also talk to the following with a Q & A at the end. At the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center Ballroom, 200 Main Street. Free, all are welcome!
- Understand our current tree population and identify areas to improve the tree canopy.
- Analyze the age (mature vs. immature) and species diversity of our canopy.
- Determine which tree species to avoid and which ones to plant.
- Build a better maintenance plan based on our existing inventory.
- Track and treat affected trees when pests or diseases develop.
- Assist with future grant opportunities for tree placement and removal.
- Provide a resource for homeowners to check if a tree is town or privately owned.
- The Tree Commission and town tree policies.

Memorial Day Parade in Old Wethersfield and Memorial Day Ceremony immediately following in the Village Cemetery.
The parade will step off at 9:00 a.m. and will head west on State Street to Nott Street then to Garden Street. It will then proceed down Garden Street, cross over Church Street and turn left onto Main Street. The Reviewing Stand will be at the intersection of Main Street and Church Street. The parade will end at Hartford Avenue. The Memorial Day Parade Ceremony will take place at the intersection of Main Street and Marsh Street on the grass in front of First Church of Christ.
Organizations interested in marching in the parade may make a request to do so by going to the parade’s website at https://www.wethersfieldct.gov/286/Memorial-Day-Parade click on “Marchers Application Form” on the main page.
Source to Sea Cleanup
September 27th, 9:00am – 12:00pm. Annual Source to Sea Cleanup
Join Great Meadows Conservation Trust and the community for the 29th Annual Source to Sea Cleanup at the Wethersfield Cove. Gathering for instructions then break into smaller groups and fan out in all directions of the Cove Park. Wear appropriate footwear for possible muddy conditions. Bring your own gloves or gloves will be provided. Bring a water reusable water bottle for hydration.
