The crisp fall air and vibrant rust-like colors will thrill your palate to enjoy this exciting workshop of painting with wool. Experience the joys of needle wool felting with painterly style techniques and a full still life to gain inspiration for your 2D wool felted painting. All materials provided and all levels welcome.

Join the Wethersfield Art League at the Pitkin Community Center, 30 Greenfield Street in Wethersfield. Oil artist Linda DeStefanis works in layers to create landscapes that are described as “contemporary realism”. Watch her capture light as she demonstrates her approach to paint from multiple photographs. Linda is an active member of the CT Women Artists as well as an elected artist of Lyme, Clinton, Madison and the American Artists Professional League.
All are welcome & you are encouraged to bring a friend. The demo follows a brief business meeting.

This workshop offers the opportunity to fine-tune your work. Do your paintings lack color and light? Do you question the placement of your elements could be more appealing or simplifying could change the outcome? Bring one or two completed paintings to critique and a canvas or panel to paint along with a picture you want to paint (or one will be provided). Acrylic or oil paints. Beginner to intermediate. Jane is the founder of the CT Plein Air Society & has taught & judged throughout CT.

Annual Old Wethersfield Arts and Crafts Fair
October 4th, 10:00am – 4:00pm. 43rd Annual Old Wethersfield Arts and Crafts Fair
Join the Wethersfield Historical Society for a day of community, fun, and celebration in the heart of the oldest and largest historic district in Connecticut. Browse hand-made items, shop for unique gifts, meet the artists, and watch demonstrations from over 90 juried artisans and vendors.
There will be pottery, woodwork, prints, jewelry, textiles, and fabric art, painting, photography, and so much more. Free parking is available along State Street, and adjacent to the DMV. This year food vendors will join the festivities. There will be ice cream for dessert and live music to enjoy.

Back by popular demand, 1 free pumpkin will be given to the first 100 children under age 12. Children can bring their pumpkins to the tent along State Street to decorate them.
Free parking is available along State Street, and adjacent to the DMV. While Google gives the address of Cove Park as 533 Main Street, fair goers would be better served using the Solomon Wells House (220 Hartford Avenue) or the DMV (60 State Street) as a frame of reference.
Witch-crafting:Turnip Lanterns

Join Rae, The Replanted Witch, as we try our hand at carving turnip lanterns, also known as “neep lanterns,” a traditional Halloween decoration with roots in Celtic folklore.
These little lanterns predate carved pumpkins and were used to ward off evil spirits and mischievous beings during the Samhain season. PLEASE NOTE: participants will be using sharp knives for carving during this workshop.

Step into the world of artistic mastery, where brush meets canvas and tradition meets discovery. In this oil painting and still life mastercopy class, artists will explore time-honored techniques from Renaissance classics to 19th-century masterpieces—from the delicate layers of the Flemish tradition to the luminous realism of Bouguereau. Led by Veronique Fournier-Wynne, this course offers guided instruction in the fundamentals and finer nuances of creating rich, realistic paintings in oil. Open to both youth and adult students, this class welcomes artists of all skill levels, whether you are just beginning your journey or refining your craft. Artists select their preferred three-hour block for instruction.

Glass Garden Sculpture Workshop

Join the Wethersfield Art League at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Wethersfield. Christine Diffley of New Life Glass Works will teach you how to create using crystal and found glass objects. Feel free to bring your own treasures and immortalize Grandma’s crystal as a cherished keepsake.
The fee is $40 for art league sponsors and $50 for the public plus a $15 material cost. The project will require drying time and your art can be picked up 9/15 or 9/18 or during any open studio times Mondays or Thursdays at the Schoolhouse.
