Ancient Burying Ground Tour

Volunteer Research Librarian Martha Smart conducts the penultimate tour of the Ancient Burying Gound for 2026. This tour features a new stop at the grave of Estelle Trebert Griswold on the 45th anniversary of her death. She is noted for the 1965 Supreme Court case Griswold v. Connecticut, which overturned the state’s anti-birth control statute on the grounds of a married couple’s right to privacy.

Tours gather at the red barn in the First Church parking lot. In the event of rain, the tour will be given on Saturday, September 27. Tours last about an hour and a half. Admission is $10 for the general public and free to current WHS members. Due to the outdoor nature of the tour, only cash will be accepted.
