DESCRIPTION:September 5th\, 10:00am – 11:30am. Ancient Burying Ground Tour \nVolunteer Research Librarian Martha Smart conducts the penultimate tour of the Ancient Burying Gound for 2026. This tour features a new stop at the grave of Estelle Trebert Griswold on the 45th anniversary of her death.  She is noted for the 1965 Supreme Court case Griswold v. Connecticut\, which overturned the state’s anti-birth control statute on the grounds of a married couple’s right to privacy. \nTours gather at the red barn in the First Church parking lot. In the event of rain\, the tour will be given on Saturday\, September 27. Tours last about an hour and a half. Admission is $10 for the general public and free to current WHS members. Keane Foundation is planning a 25th anniversary commemoration of the candle-\nlight ceremony that took place on the Broad Street Green in Wethersfield in the aftermath of the\n9/11/2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. \nThe free event on the Broad Street Green in Historic Wethersfield will feature presentations by dignitaries\, community singers\, town officials\, and the winner of the September 11th Writing Contest. \nMore than five thousand people attended the original impromptu Candlelight Vigil on the Green in 2001 and held candles to commemorate the 9/11 victims. In lieu of actual candles\, attendees at this year’s event will be asked for safety reasons to display a representation of a candle-flame from an app on their phones. \nPlease save the date 9/11/2026 for what promises to be a memorable and moving community event for the entire family. There is no rain date.

They will again feature +30 vendors every week and will have 15 farmers selling every type of CT Grown product. Special events most weeks and live music.
