SUMMARY:Snow People on Main
DESCRIPTION:February 1st – February 28th\, Snow People on Main \nCome visit Main Street during the month of February to see four foot tall snow people decorated and on display in front of the historic homes and businesses. \nThis fun program is brought to you by two elementary school students who wrote letters to the Mayor. Now the Town of Wethersfield along with Wingsite Displays who made the snow people templets are ready to bring Brandon and Ryan Hill’s idea to life! This is how it works… \nAs part of the program\, four-foot-tall snow person cutouts will be distributed to schools throughout Wethersfield. Students will decorate the snow people during school art activities\, showcasing their creativity\, school pride\, and unique perspectives. Once completed\, the snow people will be displayed along Main Street\, creating a festive and welcoming winter streetscape for residents and visitors alike. \nThis first year is a trail and the Town hopes to bring these snow people to all of Wethersfield in the future!

SUMMARY:Drawing the Portrait from Life
DESCRIPTION:February 21st–22nd\, 9:00am – 4:00pm. Drawing the Portrait from Life\nwith Scott Garder \nIn this two-day intensive workshop\, artists will learn foundational techniques for capturing a strong likeness while drawing from a live model. Day One focuses on establishing a clear linear block-in\, emphasizing both the visual impression of the sitter and the underlying structure of the skull. Day Two builds on this foundation as artists bring their portraits to a finished state through three-dimensional form modeling\, careful analysis of light direction\, and the use of specular highlights. \nThrough live demonstrations and individualized\, one-on-one critiques\, participants will develop the skills needed to create a sensitive\, volumetric portrait within a focused two-day timeframe. This workshop is ideal for artists seeking to strengthen their portrait drawing fundamentals while working directly from life. \nScott Garder is a classically trained figurative artist with a strong focus on portraiture. He is currently studying full-time at the Grand Central Atelier in Brooklyn\, New York\, where he continues to refine his skills through rigorous academic training. \nRegister here! \nhttps://wethersfieldarts.org/event/drawing-the-portrait-from-life/
