Farmers' Market
Join us in kicking off the 2nd annual Farmers' Market Season! The market will offer baked goods, vegetables, plants, cheeses, coffee, meats, honey, soaps and lotions, crafts and more! Help support our CT grown products!
Market will be held every Thursday from June 3rd- through October 28th 2010, outdoors at the Keeney Memorial Center- 200 Main Street, from 3:00pm - 6:00pm. Rain or Shine.

Sept. 10th - 12th First Church of Christ, Annual Albert Schweitzer Organ Festival: 7:30pm

Albert Schweitzer Organ Festival Annual concert and national competition for the best of America's young organists, high school through age 26. FRIDAY, 7:30 p.m. -- Concert featuring world-class organists Charles Callahan, Frederick Hohman and Joyce Jones, playing the church's Austin pipe organ. SATURDAY, 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. -- Two three-hour competition segments, each for a different age group, judged by the three concert organists. SUNDAY, 1:30 p.m. -- Organ master class for all six competition finalists. All events are open to the public. There is no admission charge; a free-will offering will be received Friday evening. First Church of Christ is located at 250 Main Street in Wethersfield; 860-529-1575.

Sept. 12th Keane Foundation Family Picnic

The Richard M. Keane Foundation is once again sponsoring A Family Picnic, September 12, 2010,5-7pm on Wethersfields' Broad Street Green. Come early and stay late! The United States Air Force Band ‘Afterburner’, a Rock and R&B Band, will again play for us as we enjoy an old fashioned picnic on the historic Town Green. Everyone is asked to bring their own blanket, or ‘fancy’ tables and chairs, and a picnic supper! Bring your friends and neighbors too!This is the ninth anniversary of 9/11. The picnic is held each year to remember those Wethersfield residents who died on September 11, 2001, and to thank Wethersfield volunteers and supporters of the Keane Foundation. There is No Rain Date!

Tour sections of the old cemetery learning about gravestone art and some of the people buried there Thurs., 9/16, 1-2:30 p.m.; Sat., 9/18, 10-11:30 a.m. Fee: $5 adults, free to historical society members and children under 16. Meet at the red barn in the First Church parking lot. No reservations are necessary.

Wethersfield's Annual Fall Festival, presented by the Chamber of commerce. Includes Business Expo, crafts, food, rides, games and entertainment throughout the day. On the Broad Street Green, Old Wethersfield. Rain or Shine!

Sept. 25th Free! History Day for Families!

At Keeney Memorial Cultural Center from 10-4, a fun day of living history programs, featuring Sheldon’s Horse, Second Continental Light Dragoons, a re-established military unit demonstrating Colonial Period military and civilian life, tying Wethersfield’s history to the Dragoons and their role in the American Revolution.

See: Grooming and saddling of horses,
Marching drills and exercises with period weapons,
Crossed Sword demonstration,
Mounted Dragoons on patrol in town,
And much more!

Sept. 25th Hearth Cooking Demonstration 11am - 3pm
Celebrate autumn with a hearth cooking demonstration at the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum. An expert hearth cook will make donuts over an open fire. For $5, visitors can sample the donuts with cider. Learn how 18th century families preserved food for the winter; churn butter, and use a cider press.

Sept. 26th Old Wethersfield Shop Keepers Association, Scarecrows Along Main Street!
Check out "spooky" scarecrows along Main Street. Scarecrows will reside along Main Street in Old Wethersfield starting September 26th until October 24th

Oct. 2nd Fall Craft Fair 10-4, Cove Park, next to the Solomon Welles House

Sponsored by Wethersfield Historical Society. One hundred crafters displaying furniture, seasonal decorations, clothing, jewelry, food, books, etc. Also a Farmers Market booth under the Historical Society tent, as well as pony rides and face painting for children, community groups, and food concessions. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 with coupon, children under 12 admitted free with an adult.

Oct. 9th Spirits of Old Wethersfield 6-9:30pm
Meet people from the past on this guided candlelight tour. Learn about those who lived and worked in the three houses. Reservations required. $10 for adults, $8 for children. (Not recommended for children under 10). Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum. 211 Main Street, Wethersfield, CT. 860.529.0612.

Oct. 13th Wethersfield Safe Grad, Are you Ready to Zumba?
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 13, 2010. The Wethersfield Community Center banquet room has been donated for our use. "Ditch the workout, join the party!" Zumba is a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and International music and dance movements, which create a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system. Cindy Ricccio, a licensed Zumba instructor, has volunteered her time for this fundraiser! There will be a demo session from 7:30pm- 8:00pm, and a class from 8pm- 9pm. Wear whatever you would wear to workout - sweats, shorts... We are asking for a $10 donation, 100% of which will go to Safe Grad! Call your friends!!! This is for ALL fitness levels, ages 16 and above.

Oct. 15-17 2nd Annual Cove Side Carnival

High energy and family friend rides. Great food, and Oktoberfest in the beer garden. Proceeds raised by the Richard M. Keane Foundation will benefit after school programs. Friday evening, Saturday 12-10pm, and Sunday12-6pm. Cove Park on State Street in Old Wethersfield.

Oct. 16 and 17: Lantern Light Tours, 5:30-8:00

Five tours each night. Explores Wethersfield’s Ancient Burying Ground at dusk by lantern light and meet some of the individuals who helped shape our town’s 375 year history. The tours will start at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center with a small exhibit on gravestone are and a hands-on activity. Featured on the tour will be the Hurlbut-Dunham House, the Meetinghouse of the First Church of Christ and the Ancient Burying Ground, ending at the Keeney Center for refreshments. Tours last about 1 hour and 10 minutes and cover approximately a half mile. Comfortable walking shoes are suggested. This program is not recommended for children under 7. Reservations are required. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for children 16 and under. Space is limited so register early! Call the historical society at 860-529-7656.

Oct. 16-17, 23-24, and 30-31 Tales of Witchcraft and Tombstones

Learn about Connecticut's witchcraft history. Tours start at the Buttolph-Williams House and ends at the Ancient Burial Grounds. $10 for adults and $8 for children and members. For more information and reservations, call 860.529.0612.

Oct. 21 and 23: Walk Around Old Wethersfield

Walk a square block of Old Wethersfield learning about architecture and some of the people who once lived here. Meet in front of the Keeney Memorial at 200 Main Street. Thurs., 10/21, 1-2:30 p.m.; Sat., 10/23, 10-11:30 a.m. Fee: $5 adults, free to historical society members and to children under 16. No reservations are necessary.

Oct. 29-31 Halloween Haunted Pumpkin Patch
Visitors ages 3+ try to make their way through the haunted pumpkin patch, Beware the spider web, creeping vines, jack-o-lanterns and other dangers! Held at the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center in Mill Woods Park to benefit the Friends of the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center. $4 per person. the event will include a pumpkin decorating contest. Friday: 6-9pm, Saturday: 12-8pm, and Sunday: 12-5pm. 156 Prospect Street, Wethersfield, CT. 860.529.3075.

Oct. 31 Children's Halloween party 2-4pm
Activities for children through grade 4. Includes games with candy prizes, entertainment, and light refreshments. $3 per person. Pitkin Community Center. 30 Greenfield Street, Wethersfield, CT.
